May 28th Storm Damage & Immediate Action Plan

Dear Rimrock Owners,

As many of you know, Rimrock Cove was hit by a severe wind and rainstorm on Thursday, May 28. The board spent Friday assessing the damage.

This is an update for the community on the immediate priority issues being addressed by the board and park manager:

  • Beach Road Damage: The road to the beach was severely damaged by a large tree that fell. Garbage trucks and boat trailers could not pass the damaged road. Jeff dumped several loads of gravel into the depressed section right away for temporary access until the road can be repaired.

  • Fallen Tree (Lot 308): A large tree fell onto an owner’s property. It is tangled in a shed and hanging over the residence. Because it requires professional removal and coordination with the owner’s insurance the board is working with Rimrock Cove’s insurance company to resolve this safely.
Homes and Structures: Luckily, there was very little damage to homes and structures. Owners who had visible damage have been contacted.

  • Hanging Branches and Unstable Trees: Multiple hanging limbs and partially uprooted trees pose a serious safety hazard. Jeff has marked the worst areas and contacted Basin Tree Service for assessment. The board has approved immediate work on these obvious safety hazards.

  • Orchard Clean-up: The orchard suffered severe tree damage and looked like a war zone. Jeff and Michael began cleanup efforts immediately and many park residents volunteered to clear the debris in the orchard and across the park. Huge thank you to everyone involved!

  • Delays in Tree Work: Due to widespread storm damage across the greater Moses Lake area, local tree services are heavily booked, meaning some community repairs may experience delays.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to keep our community safe.
