2023 Fishing Derby

Rimrock Cove HOA 2023 Memorial Fishing Derby Rules:

  1. The Rimrock Cove HOA Fishing Derby is closed to the general public. You must be an owner, family member, or guest of an owner. There are two divisions, the Open Division is open to all Anglers 15 and over & the Youth Division is for all Anglers 14 and under.

  2. The Derby will run on April 22, 2023, from 5:00 am until 2:00 pm. Weigh-ins will be open starting at 8:00 am.

  3. The Derby is free to enter. There is however an OPTIONAL cash prize offering for the “OPEN” division that requires a $10 donation per angler to qualify for the cash prize payout. 100% of the donations will be paid out after expenses to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place finishers based on the size of the fish weighed in. Pay-out will be 50% to 1st, 30% to 2nd, and 20% to 3rd place. If an Open Division angler decides to enter and not make a donation, then they are not eligible for the prize money. They would still receive a trophy for a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finish. A smaller prize money package is intended for the Youth Division if donated funding allows.

  4. See the Derby chairperson for any clarification of rules or other event questions. Only Derby staff may weigh in fish. Make sure you weigh your fish BEFORE you clean it.

  5. A ceremony to hand out Trophies and Prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in the Open Division and Trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Youth Division will be held approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Derby, about 2:30 pm, at the Weigh-in Station. Prizes will be awarded to all Youth Division entrants based on the weight of the fish, from largest to smallest. If a Youth Division angler does not weigh in a fish, their name will still be entered in a random drawing for prizes. The Weigh-in Station will be located in the shop near the boat launch.

  6. All Anglers weighing in shall provide a single fish from their maximum catch of five for the day. If there is a tie for weight, length, and then girth will be used to determine a winner.

  7. All Anglers must register PRIOR to fishing. Registration will be open from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday night on the office deck, and from 8:00 to 9:00 am Saturday morning at the Weigh-in Station.

  8. Any YOUTH division anglers, Jim McKiernan, or Doug McKiernan, may receive assistance from an older Angler due to lack of experience or because of the Angler’s young age.

  9. All Anglers are required to know the fishing rules for Blue Lake and, if required, be properly licensed. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife officials WILL be in the area and you may be monitored or checked. Fines are quite hefty and citations have been given out in the past. By participating in this event you agree to abide by the above rules.

Thank you,
Rimrock Cove Board of Directors

Marina Usage and Guest Boats

Hello RRC Owners,

Due to the increased use of the marina this summer, we have received complaints from owners who are having a hard time finding moorage for their boats. Consequently, we have decided to address this issue in a few ways to get us through the rest of the summer.

First, guest-owned watercraft will not be permitted to be moored or docked overnight on weekends. Owners, please make sure all guest watercraft (boats and jetskis) are removed from the water and the jetski beach by end-of-day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights so that ample space is available for Owner watercraft. Note that, as a convenience for owners and guests, we will be opening the rope line near the boat launch to allow for watercraft to be parked on trailers near the bathhouse on weekends.

Additionally, owners, if you are not using your boat or jetskis on a regular basis, we are respectfully requesting that you please remove them from the water or jetski dock as a courtesy to other owners. A reminder, as our rules require, any owner leaving the park for more than 24 hours must remove your boat from the water or jetskis from the jetski dock.

Sincerely,
The Rimrock Cove Board of Directors
